Did “regret” cross his mind?

This past Sunday when I was speaking about one of my “struggles” I used the story from scripture where David slept with Bathsheba.

One of the things that has crossed my mind a thousand times is this.  How many times did David “regret” ever laying eyes on this woman of beauty?

Think about it.  The sin was fun for a moment, it always is.  But then came the confrontation with Nathan.  David was forgiven by God, but that doesn’t do away with the consequences of the sin.  So many times I think we are under the impression that once we are forgiven the consequences go away too, but that simply isn’t the case.

Here is what the scripture says, “The sword shall never depart from your house……” 2 Samuel 16:10.

I have to believe that David “regretted” the day he looked at Bathsheba and carried on all the deception that he did.

God will always forgive, but the consequences of our sin are always there, they are not necessarily removed because we are forgiven.

I’ve often “regretted” things I’ve done and realized that many times they carry consequences……thankfully God gives me the strength to endure whatever comes my way in the form of consequences.

How many times have you “regretted”?
