Here’s a little lesson from my life.
Never make fun of someone, because if you do, it will come back to haunt you!

Several years ago I went on a trip with a man that was a good bit older than I was. This was someone that I had never traveled with before, but I had no reason to worry….or at least I thought.
That night as we went to bed this dude was cutting some wood….by that I mean he was snoring louder than anyone I had ever heard. I got no sleep and once the trip was over and we arrived home, I made fun of him.
Fast forward.
About three years ago out of the blue I started to snore. It just came from out of no where.
I mean I didn’t have a history of it at all and now I am like a freaking freight train and it seems that I can equate it to making fun of this guy for his snoring. Yeah, you may think it’s just age or something, but every time I have made fun of someone for something they do or have experienced, it seems like that thing that I was guilty of making fun of in their life happens in mine.
What is something that you are willing to admit that you made fun of in someone else’s life and now you have the same problem?
Got any? I know you do, but will you admit it?

Ok, here is another one.
I made fun of a guy who had back problems and he always walked funny. Now when my back gives me problems I walk just like he did…..see what I mean!

Every time I go to a presentation (which is a lot), I make jokes about speakers who can’t be heard (we don’t work with a mic at Vanderbilt unless it’s a big speaking gig) – you know, the ones you have to lean forward and strain to hear? I’m always the one in the crowd who raises my hand and makes a comment. I’ve never had that problem in my life, so I guess I’ve never related to it. This week I went to an advanced speakers class and we had to make an impromtu one minute speech. The audience loved mine – except for the fact that EVERYONE said the volume was so low they could not hear it well. Forty people, right in my face! I had no clue – thought I was projecting just fine. Okay, I thought, I get it – I’ll never make fun of soft spoken speakers again!

Uh, do I by chance know this person who is a “good bit” older than you? Is it the guy I see in the mirror when I can stand to look there? : ) Just wondering.

Don’t ever make fun of anyone for being fat. Trust me on this one. It took surgery and my insurance $30k to get back to normal. (Watch out for those evil but yummy cupcakes!)

You are so funny…..and one of my favorite people on the net.
I have to tell you that I have a friend who says the same thing….she will call anyone out on making fun of people who are challenged with their weight!
