Seems that Jamaican-born Grace Jones has been dishing out some not so nice things about one of the current Vice Presidential candidates.

Now I guess there is a natural assumption that you and I truly care what she thinks. Isn’t it all to interesting how many of the so called “famous” people are all so willing to let us know what they think and who they do and don’t like.
Looks like poor Grace may be trying to get ready for the HDTV that’s going to happen in 2009. Grace, we just love your “retro” look!
So do you care what the media elite think about our Presidential choices?

Have you ever felt a little embarrassed to be called a “Christian”?
Well let me admit it right here…..I have!
The truth is that over the years Christians have developed a pretty bad reputation. The view from outside of Christianity is pretty grim. We’re known as judgemental, narrow minded, bigots, right-wing and a whole host of other things. Some I can’t really even mention here.
I think it’s real unfortunate that many times we are known more for the things we’re against than for the things we’re for.
This was the very backbone behind our “Split Screen” series and if you didn’t take the time to listen to those messages then I would strongly urge you to set aside some time and to do just that. There’s just something special that happens when Christians take the time and address the things in our own lives that we are so quick to point out as wrong in the lives of others.
What steps are you taking in your life to make the view from outside a little better?

During the last week of our series “Split Screen” I took the time to talk about some areas of “worldliness” that many of us deal with as Christians.
One of those areas was our “passion for political and cultural issues”. It seems right now that politics is at the front of everything you read and watch. But have you ever given much thought to the fact that it really isn’t going to matter a whole lot who wins or loses. What is really at the center of everything is the condition of peoples hearts and I don’t think Congress is going to change peoples hearts.
At Crossroads we’re in the business of helping people with their hearts and I’ve committed the rest of my life to doing just that.
The church just needs to keep its first priority of proclaiming the gospel. If we are doing this then hearts will be changed.
Any ideas?

Just a few posts back we talked about living out the “call” that God has on our lives.
So maybe you are one of those people that can actually say that you are living the “call” that you believe that God has on your life.
Now my question is this. Knowing that you know that you have answered God’s “call”, how best can you use your influence in our culture?
Based on your “call” is there some way you can specifically influence the culture in which you live?
I would love to hear…..

Did you catch Monday nights “Dancing with the Star’s” show.
It featured two very unlikely people who were paired together.

Well not really…..but it was a great opportunity to use some photo editing work that someone had done.
Enjoy!

I just got back in the office from lunch.
Three of us decided we would do a little lunch together and just chill.
When we looked up at the television that was on in the restaurant we noticed there was another police chase being shown on television. Right above the car are two or three news helicopters and behind them are several dozen police cars.
Why in the heck do they run? Better yet, why in the heck do they think they can get away?

I believe that God has a calling for each of us.
One of the problems that I think we have is that we believe our calling needs to be something that is very public or at least something that puts us in a place that we are recognized. But many times I think our callings are just the opposite. Believe it or not, I struggled for years with what God had originally called me to do. I didn’t want to be in front of people.
Just remember that if God has a “higher” calling on your life that it may not be something that means you have to be in front of lots of people. It could be something as simple as the woman in the Bible who put her last few pennies in the offering plate.
Do you know your calling?
Let’s take it a step further……are you “living” your “calling”?

Time to stop and take a few minutes and record a couple of somewhat funny, yet totally real disappointments that have happened to me so far on this amazing Tuesday!
- I am so freaking tired…..I spent the whole morning brainstorming for some future series and it seems like the life has been sucked right out of me…..what the heck is going on!
- I hate it when you come up with several good options…….the disappointment lies in the fact that you can’t use them all!
So there you go……have you had any good or funny disappointments for this Tuesday?

At Crossroads we’re about to jump into a new teaching series on Sunday November the 2nd.
You may be a reader of this blog and you may not even attend Crossroads, but I need you to do something for me if you will.
Give me your definition of the word ”courage”.
Don’t look it up, just give me your off the cuff definition of the word
