“Two on Tuesday”

September 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m taking a little time to let you drop in on my world (like you really even wanted to) and let you in on my two biggest disappointments of the day:

  • Most of you know that I just love the “Broasted” chicken (white meat) at our local meat and three resturant “Sunset”.  At this place the food is always good and hot…..but one thing I love about the chicken is the crust.  Today’s chicken was slightly low on crust for some reason.  It was still good, but man did I wish there was more of the good old crust.
  • I was really hoping for some rain today……doesn’t look like it now.

Well there you go.  I hope you have a great day and if you get a chance leave a “funny” disappointment of your own in the comments.

Ever felt like this?

September 30, 2008 · 2 Comments

My last two days have been jam packed…….and for me that’s really a good thing.

I love being busy.  I love having lots on my plate.  I just love having a purpose.

But then there are times in the midst of all that I am doing that it feels like someone just took a needle and sucked the life right out of me!

What about you…..do you ever experience those days when it seems that you just don’t have the energy to go on?  Can you think of any particular thing that you do or circumstance that causes you to feel that way?

Sunday Rewind

September 29, 2008 · 1 Comment

Man….this has been a really busy Monday.  And for those of you that may not know, we had a really slam packed Sunday.

I love what God is doing at Crossroads right now.  Last week we kicked off a new teaching series titled “Split Screen” where we’re looking at some of the subtle sins that many of us have in our lives.  Your response to this series has already been amazing.  Thanks again for letting us hear from you so often.

Here are a few things that I personally noticed from Sunday:

  • Parking lot continues to make progress.
  • Phil Parkerson did a great job pitching in for Donna Belcher and her team….thanks Phil!
  • I’m loving this weather!
  • Good attendance but we noticed some regular attenders were absent!
  • Good video!  (At least I thought it got the point across)
  • Lots of excitement.
  • I am amazed at the amount of visitors that we continually get.  Thank you God!
  • Great communion service…….and we really had a great crowd.
  • We baptized four last night…….really cool.

Well have a great week and check back here soon!

It’s going to be a full day!

September 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Today is going to be a great day at Crossroads.

This morning we jump off into week two of our current series “Split Screen”.  I appreciate the feedback you guys have been giving on this series already.  Get ready for today……it may catch you by surprise.

Then tonight we will gather for a very special “communion and baptism” service.  These services are always some of our best.

Hope to see you this morning and then again tonight!

So what did you think?

September 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

This first presidential debate took place Friday night.

Depending on which news source you read, they both won.

But I want to know what you think.  Who do you think gained an edge or delivered the biggest punch?

Let me know….

Yeah Baby!

September 26, 2008 · 1 Comment

This is what I’m talking about!

A Swiss adventurer this morning crossed the English Channel safely using a homemade jet-propelled wing.

I think this is amazing and in light of the current gas situation wouldn’t this be a great way to get around?

So this morning if you had the opportunity to strap this baby on would you do it?  If you knew that it could get you to where you needed to go safely, would you try this baby out?

I would.  What about you?

“Useless Friday Info”

September 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I just love this time of the week.

It’s when I put my nose to the grindstone and chisel out some wisdom for all the world to enjoy!

It’s not about me……it’s all about you!

So without further ado…..here is your “Useless Friday Info!”

“People eat on average 236 more calories on a Saturday”

“Stick crumpled newspaper into wet shoes to help dry them and maintain their shape”

“Substances containing high levels of protein will glow under a black light because they’re on the same ultraviolet wavelength as the black light”

“The feet contain approximately 250,00 sweat glands that excrete as much as half a pint of moisture every day”

“The oldest known human disease is leprosy.  Cases described in ancient Egypt in 1350 BC, making the disease at least 3,356 years old”

“An average beaver can cut down up to two hundred trees a year”

“On average, 42,000 balls are used and 650 matches are played at the Wimbledon tennis tournament”

“The average American woman spends 55 minutes per day getting showered, dressed, and groomed”

A good indication of who you’re voting for?

September 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I agree with Tim Stevens when he talks about “charitable” giving.  He says, “It speaks to your belief in people.  It reflects your heart and whether you truly want to help people who are less fortunate.”

Many of you know that helping others is what we are about at Crossroads.  We can’t always do it financially but we try to meet as many needs as we can in different ways.

Take the time to read this very “eye opening” post.  It speaks specifically about the charitable giving of those who are currently running for President and Vice President.

The Wal-mart question

September 25, 2008 · 9 Comments

Many of you know that I have a history in retail.  Working in retail is one of those things that you either loved or hated.  I loved it.

So the other day I was going to Wal-mart and I noticed all of the shopping basket corals were full.   With great curriosity I watched to see what people would do with their shopping carts.

Boy did some people suprise me.  I was pretty amazed at what I saw people doing with the shopping cart they had just finished using.

What do you do with your shopping cart once you’re finsihed?  Do you just leave it in the parking lot?  Do you take it to the shopping cart coral or do you return it to the store?

Come on…….I want to know the truth!

Lots of talk…..

September 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

We are all hearing lots of talk about the trouble that is plaguing our financial markets.

Every where you turn there seems to be some new industry or business that needs to be bailed out of the terrible situation they find themselves in.

If someone this morning gave you the power to do something, anything about our current financial situation……what would it be?  Would you be for the bailout or against it?  Give me some details of what you think you would do?
