Distractions

July 31, 2008 · 1 Comment

It’s easy to take your eye off the ball.

We are bombarded with things that are just begging for our attention.

Just looking away for a moment can send our personal, business and spiritual life into a tail spin.

What distracts you?

New shoes!

July 31, 2008 · 2 Comments

As most of you know I am an addict for “Steve Madden” shoes.

But during the summer it is so hard to dress in long pants or jeans because of the heat.  Typically I go over to shorts and never look back until the cold weather hits.  This is where the problem lies.  I got so tired of wearing tennis shoes.  I had to find something that would go with shorts and my “Maddens” weren’t it.

Then I found a new style of “Croc’s” called “santa cruz”.  This are both stylish and they feel great on my feet.  Not to mention they go with summer clothing as well as winter.

If you are a guy then you have got to try a pair!  If you’re a woman then get you’re man a pair!

(I guess you can say this is a “metro-sexual post!)

Telling Stories

July 30, 2008 · 2 Comments

Last night I had the priviledge of attending a meeting of some of our volunteers at Crossroads.

It’s amazing to watch people interact when they get together.

One of the things I can’t get enough of is hearing what brought people to Crossroads.  These are the stories that can keep me up for hours.

If you’re someone who attends Crossroads I would love to hear the details of how you made it to Crossroads.

Looking Ahead

July 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Monday for me is always a very busy day and for some reason yesterday was a really busy day.  But one of the things that I was able to do on Monday was think about what is in store for us at Crossroads the second half of this year.

As I took the time on Monday between appointments I was totally excited about all the things that are on our plate for the rest of this year.  You guys here me say it all the time and I have to admit that even from where I sit it sometimes looks a little crazy but we are in for some great times together.

Continue to do what you’re doing and invest in the lives of others.  Remember, it’s not about us but it’s about reaching those around us.

Looking ahead……things are looking good!

Sunday Rewind

July 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

What an incredible day it was yesterday at Crossroads!

You’ve heard me say it before and now I need to say it again, “We are so privileged to have some of the greatest people in the world at Crossroads and that certainly includes our musicians and vocalists!”

On Sunday we took the entire hour to feature these great people and let them lead us into his presence by using the talent that he has given them and let me tell you they sure did exactly what I knew they would do!  During both worship hours I heard countless people singing and lifting their voices to our creator in amazing ways!  It was nothing short of a great day!

Let me throw out a few things I noticed from Sunday:

  • It was hot, hot, hot….!!!
  • Great having many of you back from your summer outings!
  • First service had it’s second largest crowd ever!
  • It was good for me to see some friends I haven’t seen in years!  They caught me totally off guard. (And you have to remember when they left town I was doing something totally different!)
  • Great student ministry services on Sunday!
  • People are excited about what God is doing at Crossroads!
  • Host teams are doing one great job!  Thanks you guys and gals…..!!!

I have to jump into an early morning meeting…….check back later!

Looking and thinking….

July 26, 2008 · 1 Comment

I am a very visual person.

I love getting in my car by myself and driving, well I use to enjoy it much more before we had this four buck gasoline.  Never the less, I still enjoy a good drive in my car and one of the things I love doing as I make my way to my destination is just doing a little people watching.  Do you ever do that?  I mean do you take the time to really look at people?  When you look at them do you ever take the time to wonder what is going on in their lives?  Well I do.

On Friday I was in Nashville and I was just riding around and I found myself just looking at people as they would cross the street, get out of their car, talk on their cell phone, whatever!  The interesting thing is that every once in a while I would say something to God about the person I was looking at.  Usually it was because I could sense a need in their life.

What about you?  Do you ever pray for people you really don’t know but maybe you sense something in their life is in need of prayer?
