Sunday was one unbelievable day at Crossroads. It was a day that was absolutely packed full of things to do from my end.
We started of the day with our two regular services. Then we moved to our “Newcomer’s Luncheon” where the attendance was actually more than I had expected. Then we finished off the day with a time of communion on Sunday evening. It was one heck of a day and I might say that I was glad when it was all over…….I couldn’t have gotten many more words out….my brain was mush.
Here are a few highlights from Sunday:
Melissa knocked it out of the park with the opener!
Mike knocked it out of the park after knocking Carl’s guitar out of tune…..only Mike could do that! (I bet you didn’t even see what happened did you?)
We had great attendance at the Newcomer’s Luncheon considering so many are out of town on vacation
This series evidently is hitting home with a lot of people
Yes, the parking lot is still a mess
Some people actually turned in their “Higher” commitment cards…imagine that!
Special thanks to those who covered for those who are volunteers and were MIA
It’s been great getting back on a regular schedule. Last week I had to jet to the ATL for a wedding on Saturday night and then speak twice on Sunday…..I love regular in more ways than one!
Great hearing from people at Crossroads…..it’s always a highlight of any day!
Got a surprise in the mail this week….that’s always nice (no it wasn’t money)!
I’m really excited about things that are coming down the pike.
Got to talk and eat with some great friends this week.
This morning as I was doing my usual search through the Internet news sites, I landed on this story about the North Pole.
According to the article, it is very possible that this summer there will be no ice at the North Pole for the first time in recorded history. Now for some reason this just totally made me stop and think……what is happening? I mean I know I’ve been hearing all about global warming, but what’s the deal with this so soon?
What do you think? Are we facing a crisis or is someone trying to sell us a bill of goods (taxes)?
Jump out of bed and get your little rear end over here to read this weeks “Useless Friday Info!”
Here you go…….
“Sprinkle baking soda onto your toothpaste to create a whitening toothpaste.”
“A teaspoon of lemon juice thrown into your wash can also help your clothes smell fresher.”
“The first vending machines in the United States were installed on New York City train platforms in 1888 and dispensed chewing gum.”
Now a little phrase info…
“Close but no cigar”-If you come close to achieving success but reach a disappointment due to failure you are “close but no cigar.” Many years ago slot machines gave out cigars as prizes. Also, early carnival games also gave out cigars as prizes
“Finger Lickin’ good”-Excellent, delicious food. This idiom originated from an advertising slogan of the KFC Chicken company.
“Murphy’s Law”-Generally meaning “if anything can go wrong, it will”. It was coined in the late 1940’s and refers to Captain Ed Murphy, a development engineer assigned to research on the rocket sleds.
It seems like everyone has a particular day that will give them problems.
For most of us it’s Monday. It just seems that starting the week off always gives us problems and that’s why for most of us it’s Monday. Now for me it can as easily be Tuesday….I can’t explain why, but that seems to be the case.
So what day seems to cause you the most problems? Is it Monday or some other day? And why is that day hard for you?

We all have lots of favorites when it comes to Christmas. Some of us love the food. Some of us love the friends. Some of us love the giving and receiving. With the Christmas holidays in full force…..I was sure to find lots of opportunity for “disappointment”on my Tuesday! As most of you know, I take an opportunity on Tuesday’s to let you know a couple of my “light-hearted” disappointments from one day of the week. Here is this week’s “Two on Tuesday”: Did y […]
A great week two for our new series “Born”. I think the pillow monster was on the prowl this morning at our 8:30 a.m. service. Some of you must have felt mighty comfortable in the bed. We picked up in services two and three…..and we had a great time. When you miss getting together on Sunday, you [...]
